Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

December 19, 2014 By Bear Lake Association of Kalkaska County

Your Bear Lake Association Board wishes you and your families a happy and joyful Christmas & holiday season. For 2015, our New Years resolution will be to stay commited to improve the lake conditions.  We want to ensure that you all have a place of which you will be proud.

To that end, the EPA have given us a gift.  The following quote is from the latest newsletter of the Michigan Lakes & Steams Association.

“Marrone Bio-Innovations has gained United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval for the use of Zequanox, a bacteria-based molluscicide, in open waters to combat infestations of invasive zebra and quagga mussels in lakes, rivers, and other open bodies of water.“

This is truly exciting news!  PLM is actively involved with this company but warns that it may be expensive.  We will continue to monitor this  as it develops.  A treatment is as not as far away as we thought.

Safe and happy travels if your plans include it. We look forward to seeing you in the Spring.
